The American Cancer Society’s $247,000 Institutional Research Grant will foster the development of junior faculty members from the UTMB schools of Medicine, Nursing, Allied Health and Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. “This is a very exciting opportunity for our junior faculty to begin important research early on in their careers,” said Dr. Mark Evers, interim director of the UTMB Sealy Center for Cancer Cell Biology and principal investigator of the grant. “It is also a great honor for UTMB to be recognized by the American Cancer Society — the nation’s largest private, nonprofit source of funds for cancer research — as a leader in cancer research.”
