The Society of Toxicology (SOT) — the world’s largest and preeminent association representing the field of toxicology — is honoring students, educators, and scientists from around the world today through the announcement of the 2015 SOT Awards that focus on education and diversity. Recognizing the value of supporting training and mentoring of future leaders in toxicology, SOT annually honors top educators who are providing students and postdoctoral trainees with a solid foundation in the field. Each year, the SOT Graduate Student Travel Award provides selected graduate students with funding support to attend and present research at the Society’s Annual Meeting & ToxExpo. Dwayne Carter, a UTMB graduate student in neuroscience and cell biology, was a recipient of this award.
