Guidry News Service recently visited with Dr. Rana Bonds, lead author on a UTMB study that found that most patients do not use medically prescribed inhalers and epinephrine autoinjectors correctly. “We had a patient who figured out that she didn’t know how to properly use her EpiPen during an allergic reaction,” Dr. Bonds said, explaining how the study was launched. "So, that gave us the thought that maybe there are a lot more patients that don’t know what to do,” Dr. Bonds said. “From that point we developed the study to sort of very objectively and scientifically look at how many people really don’t know how to use this.”
