Routine water testing recently conducted by UTMB found elevated levels of the bacteria that causes Legionnaires’ disease in the water system of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Hospital Galveston. No one has been made sick by the bacteria, and officials are taking actions to prevent illness by installing water filters, and providing bottled drinking water.
