In their weekly column David Niesel and Norbert Herzog discuss the importance of the MMR vaccine. They explain that fears of children developing autism from the vaccine are based on an unsubstantiated study that has since been retracted. New research shows that in addition to protecting children from measles, mumps and rubella, the vaccine may also protect children from other illnesses that may be a result of the lingering effects of measles infection.
