Houston sport fans were upset to hear that star Texan’s defensive end J.J. Watt will sit out the season thanks to a back injury. Dr. Ronald Lindsey, UTMB’s chair of orthopedic surgery contributes to this story on back injuries. “Most back pain is not because of the spine,” said Lindsey. “Most people, when they get back pain, it’s really the soft tissue, the muscles.” However, according to Lindsey, Watt has experienced a spine injury, likely due to a couple of hard impacts on the field.
