Dermatologist: Chemical sunscreens don’t cause cancer

After a national organization recently made claims that chemical sunscreens may cause cancer, dermatologists are stepping in to answer that controversial assertion with facts. “There’s a lot of misinterpretation and a lot of misinformation,” said UTMB’s Ashely Group. She encourages people to protect themselves from the sun by staying in the shade, avoiding the sun from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and wearing protective clothing and using sunscreen with a 30 SPF or higher.
