DIPG tumors are in the deepest area of the brain. About 300 children under age 10 develop this type of tumor each year. Because of the tumor’s location deep in the brain the tumors are rarely biopsied or removed. In their weekly column, David Niesel and Norbert Herzog discuss a molecule identified by scientists that stops the growth of this aggressive brain tumor.
