UTMB researchers found that required shared decision making visits with a physician before a person receives a low-dose computerized tomography screening for lung cancer are not happening. “Lung cancer screening is a complex process. There is a lot of conversation that needs to happen between a patient and health care provider,” said UTMB’s Shawn Nishi one of the study’s authors. MedPage Today, Healio and Guidry News also reported the study findings, which were published in JAMA Internal Medicine.
