About 65 UTMB students recently participated in a simulation that strives to impress upon them what others go through living in poverty. The exercise was open to any student on campus. “We thought it was an important lesson for future health care professionals to learn,” said UTMB’s Leslie Stalnaker. “There’s a misconception among uninformed people that people living in poverty are lazy and don’t work hard, and that’s just completely false.” [See the attached file for the full text of the story.]
