In their most recent column, Drs. Megan Berman and Richard Rupp discuss two types of meningitis vaccines. The vaccines prevent illness caused by bacteria called meningococcus. Even with prompt treatment, upwards of 15 percent of teens and young adults die from the infection, which is why they should receive the vaccination.
