A state bill that would have required children under two to ride in a rear-facing car seat was vetoed by the governor. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that young children ride in a rear-facing seat for as long as possible. UTMB’s Ben Raimer, a member of the Texas Pediatric Society, said the group is working toward stronger regulations on the use of car seats and they are willing to address the governors concerns about creating new regulations.
