Still, every year, she watches "winners" of the holiday eating season troop into New Year's meetings. ... One way to tame hunger, says Lynn Maarouf, a registered dietitian, is high fiber. Try a breakfast cereal with at least eight grams of fiber, or beans, greens, whole-grain breads, or whole-wheat tortillas at lunch. Fiber is filling and "decreases the temptation to overeat," says Maarouf, with the Stark Diabetes Center at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.
