A certified pediatric nurse practitioner, he brings his medical expertise to the poorest nation in the western hemisphere two times a year. The Port Arthur man has traveled with community members on the trips for the past 10 years. In Haiti, Alexander saw 1,250 people in two and a half days, something that seems humanly impossible. Alexander doesn’t keep all of his knowledge to himself. Because of his expertise in pediatrics he teaches nursing students as an advanced assistant to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
