Mental Illness isn't a major risk factor for gun violence, but here's what is

In the aftermath of several recent gun violence tragedies, research conducted by UTMB’s Yu Lu and Jeff Temple is drawing attention. There are those that cite video games and mental illness as potential causes of the violence. Lu and Temple’s research found that a better indicator of gun violence was access to firearms. Houston Public Media, Rolling Stone  and many other media outlets cited the research in their reporting on the recent shootings.
