There are several different types of flesh-eating bacteria that kill tissue they infect. One such bacteria is Aeromonas hydrophila, which is found in waters around the world. A new UTMB study finds that people infected with AH, may in fact be dealing with several different strains of the bacteria that interact with one another. “People can become infected with more than one strain of AH at the same time,” said UTMB’s Ashok Chopra. The Medical News, Phys.org, Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology News, Science Daily and yahoo! also reported the research findings.
