With prevention and screening, the number of cases of cervical cancer diagnosed have been declining, but not in all populations. Hispanics living in the United States are 35 percent more likely than non-Hispanic whites to be diagnosed with cervical cancer. “What really, really hurts my heart is to see young women dying from this disease,” says UTMB’s Ana Rodriquez. “It is a preventable disease.”
