Galveston County Daily News, Feb. 1, 2007 GALVESTON - Despite concerns from consultants who rated the project as poor, nearly $32 million in PeopleSoft software is running smoothly, University of Texas Medical Branch officials say. In a September report, the Navigant Group advised the medical branch to use the University of Texas system's clout to pressure Oracle Corp., which owns PeopleSoft, to correct problems caused by the software's "poor implementation." But most issues with PeopleSoft have to do with a cultural adjustments and not technical glitches in the software, said Ralph Farr, chief information officer for the medical branch. Any time a large organization makes big changes, some employees won't be happy, Farr said. "UTMB is happy with the system," Farr said. About four years ago, the medical branch invested $20 million in PeopleSoft's financial management software.
