Galveston County Daily News, Feb. 8, 2007 Letter to the Editor In regard to Belinda Ebert's letter ("UTMB software is flawed," The Daily News, Feb. 4): Many of the reasons PeopleSoft does not appear a good investment go deeper than the software. It is a good system overall. The problems the University of Texas Medical Branch has among its users are more to do with a lack of power in the servers that support the software - and with the way the software was implemented by the "powers that be" and the politics involved. User inadequacies and lack of training and retention of that training also will contribute to the overall feeling of inefficiency. If UTMB adapted to the changes PeopleSoft tries to provide, the transition would also be smoother.
