Bay Area Citizen, Feb. 8, 2007 CLEAR LAKE -- Invitations have gone out in recent days for the 2007 "Men & Women of Heart" Gala Saturday, Feb. 24, at South Shore Harbour Resort. Hosted by Friends of Bay Area Turning Point, the black-tie dinner dance benefits Bay Area Turning Point, a United Way affiliate, and will honor 10 community leaders who have served the community with distinction. The theme for the 2007 gala is "Deep in the Heart of Texans," so boots and tuxedos may be a "first" for this annual fundraising event. "  Honorees include: Paulie Guido led the renovation effort of the tall ship Elissa in Galveston and spent eight years raising money, repairing and transporting her from Greece. He is a recipient of the prestigious Governor's Award for Historic Preservation and serves on the board of the University of Texas Medical Branch. With his wife, Mary Kay, he co-chaired the fundraising effort to build St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church. He also funded the video for the Assistance League to publicize its Operation School Bell and worked with the Department of Education at the University of Texas to commission an original musical composition that is currently touring the country.
