Galveston County Daily News, Feb. 13, 2007 GALVESTON - The University of Texas Medical Branch is launching a diabetes self-management program starting Wednesday. The program, called Take Action, focuses on seven diabetes self-care behaviors. Darlene Cass, a community education specialist with UTMB's Community Health Services, hopes for a good turnout. "People keep telling me they want classes in the evening," she said. "With this, we're testing the waters. If they show up, we'll keep it going." For now, Take Action consists of six meetings at the Galveston Island Community Center, 4700 Broadway. The sessions will be in the conference room near the vital statistics office. The sessions are from p.m. 6 to 7:30 p.m. There is no fee and the sessions are open to the public.
