Fishing trip for teen ends tragically March 7, 2007 Houston Chronicle, March 6, 2007 GALVESTON - Melquisedec Acevedo spent his 13th birthday clinging to the bow of a submerged vessel near the floating bodies of two fishing companions. The boy waited about 28 hours in the frigid Gulf waters before a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter discovered him Monday, Chief Warrant Officer Adam Wine said. A fourth person remained missing late Monday as the search continued for the final boater, last seen swimming toward one of a half-dozen oil rigs visible from the where the boat sank Sunday about 10 miles south of Galveston Island, Wine said.
