Kids' festival should be grand April 2, 2007 Galveston County Daily News, April 2, 2007 GALVESTON - Pack up those tots and spend Easter weekend in the Baby Apple where it'll be even more special this year at the 12th annual Grand Kids Festival next Saturday. This fun family event is, as always, starting at 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from 20th to 23rd streets on Postoffice Street. There'll be three performance stages and more than 50 booths offering unique, hands-on activities, such as arts and crafts for children. Look for traditional folk craft demonstrations like woodcarving, costume creations, clay and quilting - presented by artists from the Texas Folklife Institute. Additional activities include the free exotic animal petting zoo and sand art, creative coloring and exploration activities, chalk art creations and an exhibit filled with marine activities sponsored by TAMUG's Sea Campus Kids. UTMB's Healthy Fun Activity Area and the UTMB Police Department will offer fingerprinting and McGruff crime prevention. « Back | The Newsroom »
