Galveston County Daily News, April 8, 2007 GALVESTON - Courtney Townsend ought to be the next president of The University of Texas Medical Branch. Most people in Galveston County agree on that and I hope, eventually, the UT Board of Regents will, too. As the University of Texas system finalizes its search for a new president at UTMB, the choice will be between new leadership from the outside and an insider at UTMB. Those of us who live in Galveston County ought to hope for someone who understands UTMB's historic mission. It has a unique relationship to Galveston County and especially to the city of Galveston.
