Helicopter medics are frequent fliers April 12, 2007 The Orange Leader, April 10, 2007 BEAUMONT - The adrenaline starts pumping as a call comes in for the three-person Air Rescue team, summoning the pilot, flight nurse and paramedic to their helicopter for another chance to save a life. The team knows seconds count as they rush to go to another location. The "golden hour" quickly passes for the patient and the more time it takes to receive medical attention, the chances of them recovering are slipping away. Burn patients generally are transported on a 28-minute fight to UTMB in Galveston. A ground transport could take up to two hours, said Jon Clingaman Jr., Air Rescue program manager. "A team sent out on rescues consists of a nurse, paramedic and a pilot," Clingaman said.
