The lone finalist - Dr. David L. Callender, chief executive officer of the University of California-Los Angeles Hospital System - may indeed be the best person to lead the institution. We hope he is. But the process by which he was chosen had an obvious flaw: it was closed to the public. Callender was chosen by movers and shakers who no doubt had the best interests of the University of Texas System and the medical branch in mind. « Back | The Newsroom »
