3-Share has huge benefits April 24, 2007 Galveston County Daily News, April 21, 2007 GALVESTON - Right now, Galveston County has a chance to show the rest of the state how the county can effectively expand health coverage in our community and provide affordable, quality health care to the working uninsured. For the past 2 years, employers and employees in the county have been working with University of Texas Medical Branch to develop 3-Share, a health benefits program for the working uninsured. The 3-Share health benefits would be comprehensive - they would include primary care, prescriptions and hospital coverage. Yet the cost of the program would be affordable. The monthly premiums would be split between employer, employee and government funds. To gain access to the government funds available for this program and to have the legal flexibility that makes it possible, the community has to apply for a waiver from the federal government. The application for this waiver was submitted in December 2005 and the review process is continuing. « Back | The Newsroom »
