Houston Chronicle, May 2, 2007 GALVESTON -- A crowded field of six candidates is seeking to fill two unexpired seats on Galveston City Council during the city's May 12 special election. Abdul-H Amin, Linda K. Colbert, Steve Hodgson and Brenda Donaloio Lee are running for District 2, while Patricia Grady and Dianna Puccetti are battling for the District 6 post. Colbert, Lee and Grady have never previously sought public office. The terms of both positions are for a year, City Secretary Barbara Lawrence said. Marc Hoskins had held City Council's District 2 seat until he was removed in November after a district judge ruled that a drug conviction prior to his election disqualified him from holding office. Former District 6 City Councilwoman Jackie Cole resigned in December, when her husband, who is a newspaper reporter, was assigned to cover Galveston for the Houston Chronicle. Amin, 58, a respiratory care therapist at the University of Texas Medical Branch, is a former member of the city's Planning Commission and Landmark Commission.
