Wichita Falls Times Record News, May 9, 2007 WICHITA FALLS - The largest number ever of Midwestern State University nursing students will graduate Saturday, according to Dr. Susan Sportsman, dean of the College of Health Science and Human Services. Dr. David Callender (MSU Class of 1980) and John Henry Young (MSU Class of 1966) will speak at Saturday's commencements - Callender at the morning gathering and Young at the afternoon assembly. Callender is associate vice chancellor and CEO of the UCLA Hospital System in Los Angeles. He is also an adjunct professor of surgery at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. He previously held numerous positions at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, including executive vice president and chief operating officer, vice president for clinical programs and medical director of the center's Physicians Referral Service. Callender has been named as the sole finalist for the position of president of the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He graduated from Wichita Falls High School and received his bachelor of science from MSU in 1980, majoring in chemistry. He went on to obtain a doctor of medicine degree from Baylor College of Medicine in 1984 and a master's of business administration from the University of Houston in 1995.
