Associated Press, May 10, 2007 AUSTIN - University of Texas System regents on Wednesday finalized the appointment of the next president of the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Dr. David L. Callender was named the sole finalist for the job in April. Callender is the chief executive of the University of California at Los Angeles Hospital System. He will replace Dr. John Stobo, who announced last fall that he would step down in August after 10 years leading the medical school. Callender's appointment is effective July 1.
