Exhibit to feature UTMB children's health art May 25, 2007 Galveston County Daily News, May 25, 2007 GALVESTON - Moody Gardens will open a new exhibit this weekend featuring the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston Children's Health Art Stars program. The exhibit, which is free and open to the public, will open Saturday and be displayed until Sept. 3. Throughout the year, patients at UTMB Children's Hospital create artwork that they entrust to the Art Stars program. Dr. Frederick S. Huang, director of the division of pediatric hematology-oncology at UTMB, established the program two years ago. Its mission is to raise awareness about the healing influence of art, to celebrate the creativity of children and to mobilize community support for their artistic endeavors. "Our child life director, Janis Matthews, and her team do a great job of providing daily art therapy for the kids," Huang said. « Back | The Newsroom »
