In a New Yorker magazine article sent me by a reader of this column, "The Way We Age Now," a renowned Manhattan geriatric specialist's first question to his new clients was: What were their eating habits? The geriatrician learned over a long career of treating older Americans that they typically neglect their nutritional needs.
