County staff soon to get free health care May 29, 2007 Galveston County Daily News, May 27, 2007 GALVESTON - By this time next month, Galveston County officials should have the lease signed and the process under way to open the first of three free clinics for employees. The island clinic is expected to be running by Aug. 1. The next clinic in the Texas City-La Marque area should open by Oct. 1. A date for the opening of a north Galveston County clinic has not been determined. Officials declined to be specific about the address for the island clinic until the process is completed, but Yarbrough said it's in the 23rd Street area downtown, close to the renovated courthouse. County employees will move back in August to the county courthouse, in the 700 block of 21st Street. The health care is free to employees through the county's contract with CareHere, a primary-health-care management company based in Brentwood, Tenn. CareHere president Those funds will come from the city's self-funded insurance plan, comprised of a pool of monthly premiums that city workers pay.
