GALVESTON, Texas - The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston will present a seminar describing the history, growth and expansion of the campus.

Michael Shriner, vice president for Facilities and Campus Services, said that he will provide a brief history of the campus and then "focus on the master plan for the next 20 years." He said the university's plan includes creating about 3.3 million square feet of new or renovated space.

The goal of the construction project is to make it more accessible and nurturing to patients, employees, students and visitors.

Cost of the seminar, "Building for the Future: Construction Plans and Progress at UTMB," is $5. Pre-registration is required.  The session will be at the Open Gates Conference Center, 2419 Sealy St., and will begin at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, June 21.

The seminar is a part of the summer program offering college-level courses open to all people 55 or over.

Registration for the construction seminar and other OLLI seminars will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, June 18, at Entrance B of the Primary Care Pavilion, 400 Harborside Dr. A second registration session will be from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, June 21, in Room 101 at the Open Gates Conference Center.
