Infant Dies in Surfside Apartment July 9, 2007 Brazosport Facts, July 8, 2007 SURFSIDE BEACH - Police were investigating the death of a 6-month-old boy in a small apartment building Saturday morning. At 11 a.m., EMS was called to an apartment in the 1000 block of Bluewater Highway and found the lifeless infant lying in bed, Surfside Beach Police Chief Randy Smith said. The child was staying with his father. The mother also of Surfside, wasn't present at the time, Smith said. "It's not a criminal investigation, it's just an investigation," Smith said. "The bottom line is we don't know the cause of death. We don't know what the findings are but will investigate it to its fullest." There was no evidence of foul play and the child had no unusual marks, he said.
