BYM Marine and & Maritime News July 9, 2007 The Coast Guard located a kayaker in the water near Surfside, Texas, yesterday afternoon. Coast Guard Station Freeport received a call at 1 p.m. reporting a person in the water and immediately dispatched a rescue boat. The boat crew spotted the man floating next to a kayak. The crew immediately began cardiopulmonary resuscitation and transported the victim to Station Freeport, where he was taken by Life Flight to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas.   The kayaker, who was not wearing a life jacket, was unresponsive to attempts to resuscitate him.
