YAHOO!news.com July 9 2007 A kayaker drowned near Surfside Beach on Sunday, KPRC Local 2 reported. U.S. Coast Guard officials said the man was found floating face-down next to his kayak at about 1 p.m. Crews pulled the man out of the water and gave him CPR. The man was transported by helicopter to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where he died. Officials said the man was not wearing a life jacket.
