Badges, belt buckles and boots July 17, 2007 Conference showcases technology for law enforcement personnel The Daily Texan, July 17, 2007 The Sheriffs' Association of Texas' 129th Annual Training Conference has brought more than 200 sheriffs from all over Texas to train in sheriff duties and learn about new technology for their departments. The event, located at the Austin Convention Center, started Sunday and will end July 18. The conference trains sheriffs in law enforcement, border security and investigative techniques, said Joe Pollock, president of the Sheriffs' Association of Texas. The conference includes vendors selling advanced equipment to the sheriffs. One vendor showcased at the conference is the prescription service from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Bill Toney, assistant director of pharmacy services at UTMB's Correctional Managed Care department, said they want to cut prescription cost for sheriffs and offer UTMB health care services. « Back | The Newsroom »
