Beaumont Enterprise, July 17, 2007 BEAUMONT - Elected officials and department heads in Jefferson County began appearing before Commissioners Court Monday with wish lists in hand for this year's round of budget hearings. Department heads have requested about 30 new positions and $3,000 worth of computer equipment, Commissioner Eddie Arnold said. County Health Authority Cecil Walkes asked for budget increases for prescription medications, a new van to transport patients to UTMB Galveston and increases for indigent burials, which increased sharply in the last year.
