GALVESTON, Texas - "Safety for Seniors" is the topic of a free presentation scheduled for September in Texas City and Galveston by Senior Services at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Police Capt. Sandy Turner and officer Ryan Erwin, of the UTMB Police Department, will discuss self-defense and crime prevention.
The presentation is part of the Circle of Life lecture series for seniors and family members.
The seminars are scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. For those who register, a box lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. There is no charge for lunch. Here is the schedule:
- Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Memorial Lutheran Church, 2021 29th St., in Texas City.
- Wednesday, Sept. 19, at First Union Baptist Church, 1027 Avenue K, in Galveston.
