UT Medical Branch resisting open-records ruling October 1, 2007 Austin American-Statesman, Sept. 29, 2007 UTMB continues to maintain that certain records relating to its biosafety labs requested by the Sunshine Project, which monitors biodefense research, should not be made public. UTMB and the UT System sued Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott in state District Court in Travis County in January to overturn his office's ruling that the records must be released. The medical branch and the university system filed a second lawsuit against Abbott in June concerning a similar ruling on additional documents requested by the Sunshine Project.
