Conde Nast Portfolio.com, Oct. 10, 2007 UTMB has received a $1 million gift from the John P. McGovern Foundation to create the John P. McGovern Distinguished Chair in Oslerian Medicine. The focus of the position will be to further the goal of educating and training future physicians to give compassionate, scientifically sound care in the tradition of William Osler. The first holder of the position will be a former president of UTMB, Dr. John D. Stobo.
