New York Times, Oct. 18, 2007 A federal drug safety official said that a panel of experts should consider a ban on multi-symptom over-the-counter pediatric cough and medicines for children under the age of 6. UTMB's Dr. Wayne Snodgrass was an author of a petition earlier this year asking the F.D.A. to ban sales of over-the-counter cough and cold medicine for children under the age of 6. The petition led the agency to undertake a review of the medicines' safety and to convene today's panel.
