GALVESTON, Texas - The Salute to Nursing Golf Tournament and Auction Party raised more than $135,000 for financial scholarships for students attending the School of Nursing at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.

A record number of 225 attendees at the auction party contributed more than $43,000 while 144 golfers participating in the tournament raised more than $92,000.

Following are tournament and auction winners:

Low gross, first place: Keller Williams team of Hal Gregory, Duke Appfel, Marvin Searcy and Patrick Shoenvogel. Second place: Don Mafrige and Tony Edmond.

Low net, first place: DRDA CPAs Bill Ansell and Ann Masel's team of Rusty Legg, McPhearson, Miller and Elton. Second place: Frost National Bank team of John Barousse, Bruce Kirtley, Ross Grief and John Smith.

Closest to the Pin: Mary Ann Emerson and John Merritt.

McGanity Trophy for UTMB team with lowest score: Department of Psychiatry Titus Harris Clinic team of Clif Barnhar, William Bondurant, Ray Buenrestro and Steve Mueller.

Auction winners included Kevin Gabriel, who won a cruise donated by the School of Nursing 2007/08 Advisory Council.

"Costa Rica Trip for Four" with Continental Airline tickets for two, donated by Sandra C. Harris and Continental Airlines, was won by Michael Hunter for $3,300.

"The Treat and The Treatment," donated by Sue Harris, which included golf, dinner, spa treatments, hotel accommodations and limousine transportation, went to Barbara Thompson for $3,000.

The winning bid for "Diamonds are a Boys Best Friend" that included Diamond Seats for the Houston Astros and was donated by Don Sanders, was $2,000 by Titus Harris III.

Bald Head Island, N.C., donated by GPM Inc. and George P. Mitchell, was won by Peaches Kempner for $2,750.

"Famous Oyster Dinner," donated by Fred and Pat Burns and Vandy and Sue Anderson, fetched a $3,800 winning bid by Steve Salch.

"Viva Las Vegas" Golden Nugget package, donated by Landry's Restaurants Inc., Tilman and Paige Fertitta and Southwest Airlines, went to Jack Jinkins for $1,200.

"Taste of Texas as you Meet the Callenders," donated by UTMB President David L. Callender and Teri Wenglein-Callender, was won by Susanne Sullivan for $2,000.
