Longview News-Journal, Oct. 24, 2007 After spending most of the summer at UTMB struggling to recover from the after effects of a deadly flesh-eating bacteria he contracted, Steve Gilpatrick was finally able to come home Monday night. The 58-year-old Blackjack Community resident said he is looking forward to spending the mornings "sitting on the back porch and drinking coffee" with his wife. Linda Gilpatrick was by her husband's side the entire time he was at UTMB and said the doctors and staff were almost like family to them. Steve Gilpatrick said, "The treatment and care we were given is unmatched, as far as I'm concerned."
