GALVESTON, Texas - Approximately $12,000 was raised for children's health programs at "Art & A Movie" held Friday, Oct. 19, at Moody Gardens. Hosted by the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, proceeds benefit patients and programs at Children's Hospital.

The evening featured more than 120 works of art from artists all over the region, as well as a silent auction. Following the art auction, guests were treated to a viewing of an IMAX excerpt of the movie "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix."

"This was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the UTMB children's health clinical programs and to acknowledge the artistic creativity of the young patients we serve - our own ‘Art Stars,'" said Dr. Lawrence R. Stanberry, professor and chairman of the Department of Pediatrics.

"The exceptional generosity of the community and, in particular, the generosity of many of the talented artists in our region made the extraordinary evening possible," Stanberry said.
