Public invited to participate in activities

 GALVESTON, Texas - Two days of activities focusing on the complex realities of global health will begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, with an opening reception and a panel discussion on "Migrant Workers and Immigrant Populations: Healthcare, Law and Ethics."

Led by Dr. Edward Lee Zuroweste, chief medical officer of the Migrant Clinicians Network and an assistant professor of medicine at John Hopkins University, the panel includes Ernest Aguilar, the on-call chaplain at UTMB and a doctoral candidate at the Institute for Medical Humanities, and Sarah Paoletti, J.D., director of the transnational legal clinic and a clinical supervisor and lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania Law School. The reception and panel discussion will be held in the Levin Hall Dining Room, on the corner of Market and 11th streets.

An international fair and cultural display in the Levin Hall foyer is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, followed by a 5 p.m. reception and a 5:30 p.m. screening of  "¡Salud!," the award-winning film on Cuba's health care system. The film will be shown in Levin Hall Dining Room. Admission is free. Please call (409) 747-8823 for reservations.
