Galveston County Daily News, Nov. 3, 2007 Roger Vertrees, an assistant professor in UTMB's Department of Surgery-Cardiothoracic, was among a group of Galveston area residents to compete in the recent Ironman Florida triathlon. This was Vertrees' first time to compete in the Florida event. He trains with the Galveston Tri-Island team.
