Austin American-Statesman, Jan. 6, 2008 Some pediatricians say last year's controversy over whether the state should mandate that Texas schoolgirls be vaccinated against the human papillomavirus has translated into more individuals getting the vaccine. "It's really kind of an interesting thing: The controversy has really helped us get the word out," said Dr. Chris Turley, vice chairwoman for clinical services at UTMB's pediatrics department.
