Calibre Macroworld, Jan. 31, 2008 In a study titled "Carotenoid derived aldehydes-induced oxidative stress causes apoptotic cell death in human retinal pigment epithelial cells," UTMB researchers conclude. "This would suggest that high carotenoid supplementation for treatment of age-related macular degeneration should be used cautiously." UTMB's Nileshkumar M.Kalariya is princicpal investigator. The study appeared in the journal Experimental Eye Research.
